THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, January 31, 2001 Ellen Mae Bailey, 84, of Powderly died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Heritage Care Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, at Powderly United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Yarbrough officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery by Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. She was born July 18, 1916, in Kopperl, Texas, to Henry and Mignon Green Holmes. She married Morris S. Bailey Aug. 9, 1945, in Paris. He died Nov. 15, 1991. She graduated from Kopperl High School and Texas Weslyan College and received a graduate degree from TCU. She was a teacher until her retirement in 1971 and was a member of Powderly United Methodist Church. Survivors include a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, J.L. and Marybelle Bailey, a sister-in-law, Wilma Bailey, and cousins, William Carpenter, M.C. Greer, and Martha Shifflet; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Shawn Jordan, David Dunmon, James Norrell, Jerry Bailey, Garland Chapman, and Stanton Ramsey. If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Powderly United Methodist Church.
