Bio

Beverly Ann Johnson, aged 65, of Fernley, Nev., passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, in her home after a brief struggle with cancer. Beverly was born to Alfred Copsey and Maxine Casteel Copsey July 1, 1949, in Burwell. She married Larry Johnson of Mason City, Nov. 12, 1967. She completed beauty school at Queen Anne’s School of Beauty in Kearney and worked as a beautician for a short time. After farming in Mason City, for 25 years, Bev and Larry moved to Arizona, sparking their desire to try many different opportunities and locations in the west. Larry and Bev raised ostriches in Arizona, grew cucumbers in California, and then began flipping homes in Texas and finally, Nevada. Bev leaves behind, her husband, Larry Johnson; daughters Dawn Johnson of Axtell, and Jacie and (Patrick) Retzlaff of North East, Md.; grandchildren Sheridan Cabrera stationed at Hill AFB, Utah, Logan Doelman of Axtell, and Lindsay Retzlaff of North East, Md.; and siblings Connie (Jerry) Scheer of Grand Island, Dean (Tammy) Copsey of Burwell, and Vernon (Elaine) Copsey of Brewster. Memorial services will be June 4, at Burwell United Methodist Church at 917 I Street, Burwell, NE 68823 at 11:00 a.m.
