Siri Margaret McWhorter was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Kalispell to Axel and Magdalena (Westerlund) Danielson. Siri passed away early in the morning on May 26, 2015, at Heritage Place. Siri grew up in the Flathead Valley west of Kalispell and lived most of her life on Danielson Road on property that her parents purchased in 1912. Siri married Chester McWhorter on April 14, 1941, in Kalispell. They had six children, sons, Jack and wife Sandy, Bob and wife Judy, Gary and wife Sharon, and Melvin and wife Lindell; and daughters, Faith and husband Dale Hodges and Laurie Foster. Chet worked at the Flathead Mine during the early years of their marriage and during that time they lived at the mine. They moved to the ranch on Danielson Road in 1951. Siri is survived by her children, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Chet, parents Axel and Magdalena, brothers Henry, Pete, Carl and George Danielson, and sister Annie (husband Herb) Collins. When her older children were ready for college, Siri completed a job training program that was held in the evenings at Flathead High School. She then worked for many years at several jobs including the Job Service, the Soil Conversation Agency, finally retiring from the Flathead Forest Service. Siri was a remarkable lady who was much loved by family and friends. As a testament to that love, she has a great-granddaughter, Siri Wheeler, and great-niece, Siri Danielson, named for her.
