Bio

MOTHER AND DAUGHTER BURIED IN ONE GRAVE Mrs. S. M. Kellar and Dorotha Kellar Died After Brief Illness THE FUNERAL WEDNESDAY Within five months death has entered a single home in Brock wayville and taken from the family circle three loved ones and plucked from the garden of earthly existence three beings each of whom but a few days before the dark shadow cross-ed the threshold looked into a future of apparent longlivetv and happy earthly sojourn. The grief stricken home is that of Samuel M. Kellar, one of the best known residents of town. Last October the eldest son, Harry, was suddenly taken away, and now it is our sad duty to chronicle the demise of the wife and also a little daughter, both of whom passed beyond the portals of death within thirty-six hours, and after an illness of less than two week's duration. It was stated in the RECORD last week that Mrs. Kellar and five-years-old daughter, Dorotha, were critically ill. Both mother and child were suffering from pneumonia and had been bed-fast but a few days, Sunday afternoon little Dorotha died and the mother died Monday morning. Everything within the power of human aid was done to stay the hand of the grim reaper, but to no avail. Mrs. Kellar had been suffering from an attack of grip which developed into pneumonia and congestion. Dorotha's death was also due to a severe attack of pneumonia. The double death in the family is a sad biow to those who hoped and prayed that their loved ones might be spared, and who continued to linger with heavy hearts about the sick-room waiting for some assurance that the hand of death might be stayed, but none came, and today the husband and children, an aged father and mother, brothers and sisters, weep with broken hearts in the sore trials that have come to them through the deaths that have taken two precious links from the family circle, and created vacancies that can never be filled. No sadder occurence through the visitation of the inevitable has created more sorrow in a community than this one and the bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their affliction. Mrs. Susana Kellar was born in Beechwoods December 28, 1868, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, of this place. At the time of her death she was 37 years, 1 month, and 28 days of age. In 1890 she was united in marriage with Perry G. Britton, who died February 2, 1899. To this union two children were born who survive. Six years ago the deceased was married to Samuel Kellar and to the union two children were born, Dorotha, who died last Sunday aged five years and Pearl, aged two years. Mrs. Keilar united with the Beechwoods Pres-byterian church of profession of faith, July 6, 1889. In 1895 she was dismissed to the Allen's Mills M. E. church. At the time of ner death, she was a member of the Brockwayville M. E. church. The deceased was a woman of pleasing person-ality, a kind neigbor and friend and one who was a dutiful and loving wife and mother. She was a devout christian and took much interest in the affairs of the church. Dorotha Kellar was born in Brockwayville May 29, 1901. She was a bright child and a general favorite in the family. The funeral was held Wednesday, services at the M. E. church, Rev. D. A. Platt, of Corrv, and Rev. Dr. Blaisdell, of this place, officiating. The remains ot mother and child were encased in a special casket of grey plush and silver mounted exterior. The casket was carri-ed to the church. There was a large attendance and the service was very impressive. The floral tribute from triends and relatives was beautiful. After the service those present werer given an opportunity to view the faces of mother and child. Interment was made in Wildwood cemetery. The pall bearers were: Dr. B. B. Brumbaugh, L. M. Groves, L. D. Rearick, A. Hemp-hill, R. S. Weish and H. P. Dull. Card of Thanks I desire to publicly express my sincere thanks and appreciation of the many kindnesses rendered and for the tokens of respect shown us during the illness and death of my beloved wite and daughter. To all who so kindly came to us in the hour of trial and sorrow we are grateful to a degree that is beyond ex-pression, and the kindly assistance of all shall not soon be forgotten.
