Bio

Bernard Henry Silver, 86, Hamilton, passed away on February 6, 2018, at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home, Hamilton. Ben had previously lived in Cameron, Missouri. Bernard was born on May 15, 1931, in Loup City, Nebraska, to Henry and Barbara (Ruschynialski) Silver. He honorably served his country in the Navy, during the Korean War, serving from 1951-1954. He worked as a metal fabricator for Kenworth-Dart in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton, and was a very active and lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus. Bernard married LaVonne Leibfried on September 14, 1957, in Sherburn, Minnesota. She preceded him in death in 1995. He was also preceded in death by: his parents; his second wife, Helen, in 2004; and four brothers, Everest, Gerald, Father Lawrence, and Francis Silver. Survivors: children, Giles (Kathy) Silver, Warrensburg, Missouri, Angela (Robin) Ellis, Hamilton, Andrew Silver, San Diego, California, Nicholas (Judy) Silver, Hamilton, Jason (Pam) Silver, Platte City, Missouri, Nathan (Terri) Silver, Maysville, Missouri, and Monica (Jerry) Reeds, Marceline, Missouri; sister, Marie (Larry) Gilkeson, Blue Springs, Missouri; three step-children, Tom and Donald Maenhoudt, and Shirley Gueltzau; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton. Visitation: 10 to 11 a.m. one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment: St. Munchin Catholic Cemetery, Cameron. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
