Bio

Marie H. Mayer, 94, of Cameron, died Friday, May 15, 2015, in a Temple hospital. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2015, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating. Entombment will be in St. Monica’s Mausoleum. Marie was born in Crowell, Texas, to the late Fred and Carrie (Kubicek) Halencak. She married Joe F. Mayer. Marie was a homemaker and a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and K.J.Z.T. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1978; two grandchildren; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her sons: Joe B. Mayer and wife, Judy, of Cameron, John Mayer and wife, Lillian, of Midway, Fred Mayer and wife, Ellen, of Houston, Steve Mayer and wife, Dorothy, of Cameron; daughter, Gloria Beach, of Wiley; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Halencak, of Vernon; sister, Olga Helms, of Florida; other relatives and many friends.
