Daughter of Arthur (b. 1858 IL, d. 1943) and Malinda C "Linnie" Ritchie (1863 OH-1942 NE) Van Housen; lived Omaha, NE ------------------------------------------------- Poet, Flower Lover Is Buried Monday Last services were held Monday at two o'clock for Mrs. Christene C. Veleba, who died Nov. 1 at the Ord Hospital where she had been a patient for two months. She was born Apr. 26, 1893 to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Van Housen of Dickens Neb., and was 70 years, six months and 5 days old at the time of her death. Mrs. Veleba's home was in Schuyler before she came to Ord to teach school in 1918 and married Charles E. Veleba the same year. To them were born a daughter Jean and a son Dean. For several years past she made her home with her daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Verlin Smith and a granddaughter Christie. The chief interests of her life were flowers and gardening and writing poetry. She had had 20 odd poems published, many of them in the Sunday World Herald magazine. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Vera Means and Nita Van Housen both of Omaha, Mrs. Stella Schultz of Fargo, N.D., and Mrs. Mattie Woods of Troy, Mont., Dean is in the U.S. Navy. Rev.
