Bio

Laura Victoria Wilson Born: April 24, 1929 Died: May 08, 2015 Laura Victoria Wilson, 86, was surrounded in love by her three children early Friday morning, May 8, 2015, when she went to be with the Lord. She leaves endearing memories of family gatherings filled with love, laughter and her home cooking including cornbread dressing, macaroni-n-cheese, peach cobbler, cheese balls, and sweet tea. Laura was born in Aubrey, TX to Ernest Alvin and Bertha Mae Smith April 24, 1929, which completed the family with her brother, Perman Albert Smith, who preceded her in death. She lived in Denton County her entire life. She married the late JT Wilson and had their three children, and later married the late J.R. Hampton. Laura was saved and baptized locally at Silver Beach on August 27, 1939 and she was a charter member of First Baptist Church Krugerville in Aubrey, TX. She served the children's ministry there for many years in the AWANA program. Fellowship with church friends and family was very important to her. Laura was a gifted seamstress, making many beautiful quilts and detailed articles of clothing for her family, friends, and herself over the years. She could also crochet, knit, and craft just about anything you could imagine. Laura never knew a stranger and loved getting to know people from all walks of life. She joined the Rebekah Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) in 1956 and was an active member for many years, including being commissioned as the Deputy President of the Assembly of Texas District 24 and serving as noble grand, drill team captain, and financial secretary. She was also very active in the Denton County Sheriff's Posse, riding in many parades, rodeos, and trail rides through the years. She was always active in her children's lives, including serving as the PTA President at Jefferson Davis Elementary School. She enjoyed her position at Moore Business Forms as a proof reader and was proud to be a dedicated employee, having worked there for over 25 years. She was a strong independent lady and always a loyal fan of her beloved Dallas Cowboys. She held season tickets at the original Cowboys Stadium in Irving, TX for about 20 years and even attended Super Bowl XIII in 1979 in Miami, FL. Laura was dearly loved by her children, Linda Mae Gleason and husband Dale E. of Valley View, TX, Thomas Alvin Wilson and wife Patricia of Lake Dallas, TX, and Betty Joyce Redfearn and husband Sam of Aubrey, TX. She loved her ten grandchildren and all the blessings of twenty-seven great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren that have followed. Each Christmas, she hosted gatherings at her home until the Wilson family grew too big and the party had to be relocated to her church fellowship hall. Laura enjoyed spending time with her family, including her loving sister-in-law Geneva Smith of Krugerville, TX, and a countless host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her, including her recent friends at Carriage House Estates in Denton, TX. Each of us has favorite memories of this special person and we take comfort in knowing her legacy lives on in all of us and that she is now with her Heavenly Father. She counted Dean Mulkey as one of her closest family friends for many years and her family finds comfort knowing he is coordinating the arrangements. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, May 11, 2015 at First Baptist Church Krugerville, 5021 Hwy 377 S, Aubrey, TX. The funeral service will also be at the church on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Belew Cemetery. Rev. Sam Redfearn will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Dale P. Gleason, Sam Redfearn Jr, Todd McNabb, J.T. McNabb, Tyler Milacek, and Russell Morrow Jr. Honorary pallbearers include Jonathan McNabb, Jason McNabb, Daniel Berkley Jr, Ethan Berkley, James Cheshire, Hollis Gleason, Mason Gleason, Conner Boatwright, and Tripp Redfearn.
