Naomi Irene Jones, second daughter of John and Frances Mahala (Galyean) Yohe, was born Jan. 8, 1903, in Peculiar, Cass County, Mo. She died at Franklin County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Neb. on Nov. 24, 1983, at the age of 80. ..In January 1911, she moved with her parents and four sisters to a ranch north of Ellis. In April 1918, the family moved to Plainville, where she attended high school. ..She was married to Boyd Jones on June 8, 1921, at Stockton. To this union five sons and one daughter were born. Four of her sons were in the service of their country. Jay and Hugh saw active duty in Germany during World War II. Loren served in Japan, and Don in Hawaii. ..Irene and Boyd farmed near Plainville until April 4, 1944, when they moved to Smith County. This remained her home until July 1983, when she became a resident of Franklin Senior Citizens Home. ..She was baptized April 5, 1961, By Rev. R. T. Wentling and became a member of Athol United Church of Christ, where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. ..She was a member of the Women's Fellowship of the church and a charter member of Home on the Range EHU. ..She was preceded in death by her husband Boyd; son Harry; infant granddaughter Cindy Marie Jones; her parents; four half-brothers; three half-sisters; and sisters Maebelle Adams and Ione Jones. ..Those left to remember her are sons John J. and wife Ardith of Franklin, Neb.; Hugh B. and wife Ruth of Emporia; Loren D. of Athol; and Don K. of Great Falls, Mont.; daughter Rosanne and husband Dee Panter of Elkhart; seven grandsons; seven granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters Corene Harrison of Plainville and Virginia Burkholder of Houston, Texas; nieces, nephews, and friends. ..Irene especially enjoyed working with crafts and has left many articles of her handiwork for her family as a lasting memory of her. ..Funeral services were Nov. 29 at Simmons Chapel, Kensington, with Rev. Dale McCain officiating. Music was by Betty Smith and Thaine Larson with Kay Hardacre as accompanist. ..Casket bearers were grandsons Glen Jones, Allen Jones, Arlyn Jones, Greg Jones, Gayle Jones, Mike Johnson, and Justin Panter.
