Lester Harold Ray February 27, 1924 - April 30, 2015 Shreveport, La – A funeral service for Lester Harold Ray, 91, will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Westview Christian Church. Officiating will be Reverend Gary Boswell. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. until service at the church. Interment will follow at NWLA Veterans Cemetery. Lester was born on February 27, 1924 to Jesse and Odie Mae in Carter, Oklahoma. He passed away on April 30, 2015 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by parents, Jesse Felix and Odie Mae Williams Ray, loving wife, Norma Ruth Hunnicutt Ray, brothers, Murray, Jesse Kenneth, Johnny Edward, William Lozie, and Glen Ray, sister, Oma Ray, Mina Stone, Thelma Morgan, Lois Alcott, Lorraine Barosky. He is survived by daughter, Pam Pierce and husband Garry, son, Steven Ray and wife Vicky, granddaughter, Kasey McConnaughey, grandson, Matthew McConnaughey, great-grandson, Camden Ray McConnaughey, sister, Wanda Havranek, and numerous nieces and nephews. Honoring Lester as pallbearers will be grandson, Matthew McConnaughey, nephew, Russ Alcott, Jr., great-niece, Penny Stone-Bishop, great-grandsons, Tyler and Brett Pierce, and Brandon Pierce. Honorary pallbearers will be son, Steve Ray, great-grandson, Camden McConnaughey, and son-in-law, Garry Pierce. He proudly served in the US Marines some of that time in Iwo Jima. He was preceded in death by his wife about 4 years ago they were married for 63 years. He is survived by one daughter and one son. ....................................... CPL - Corporal (E-4) US Marine Corps, World War II, Iwo Jima veteran. Honors Patriot Guard Riders.
