Funeral services for Dorthy Anita Kirby will be held at 3PM on Saturday, May 2, 2015, in the George Price Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery. Dorthy was born March 22, 1928 in Foard County, Texas to L.N. and Annie (Cross) Hairston, and passed away April 30, 2015 in Lubbock, Texas. She married Wayne Kirby on April 22, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. They were married for 57 years before he passed away on October 21, 2001. Dorthy was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Elvin Hairston, and a sister Verna Wims. Dorthy was a member of the Fifth Street Church of Christ in Levelland. She is survived by daughter, Retha Howard and husband, Dee of Levelland; son, Darvel Kirby and wife, Debbie of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Staci Sturvidant of Denver City and Shelli Duncan and husband, Matt of Lubbock; and grandson, Matt Harvey and wife LaDonna of Lubbock. She was blessed with 3 great-granddaughters, Ashli Ortiz and Audri Sturdivant of Denver City, and Lilli Harvey of Lubbock; 4 great-grandsons, Colton Duncan, Logan Duncan, Peyton Duncan and J.J. Harvey all of Lubbock; one great-great granddaughter, Myli of Denver City; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
