Bio

USAF Major Robert Curtis Shaw, Retired 91, of Gilmer, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Gilmer. Interment at Sand Hill Cemetery in Upshur County. He was born January 31, 1924, in the Sand Hill community, Upshur County to D. W. Shaw and Cumy Johnson Shaw. Mr. Shaw married Virginia McCellon on April 10, 1943 in Gilmer. He was a pilot in the U. S. Air Force during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War retiring after 21 years on February 17, 1970. Mr. Shaw is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert D. and Ruth Jean Shaw of Potomac, Maryland, Michael V. and Jennifer Shaw of Gilmer; daughters and son-in-law, Donna Seale of San Angelo, and Cheryl and Ron Grimmett of Gilmer; grandchildren, Douglas Shaw, Kieth Shaw, Morgan Seale, Camron Seale, Pamela Shaw and Kimberly Shaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Virginia McCellon Shaw; son-in-law, Jim Seale; four sisters and one brother.
