Services for Clara Bebo, 92, Redfield, were held Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at the United Methodist Church, Redfield, with the Rev. Stephen Perry officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Northville. The Thelen Funeral Home, Redfield, was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bebo died Saturday, June 3, 2006, at her home in Redfield surrounded by her family. Clara was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Bonilla to Karl and Martha (Olson) Westby. She married John Bebo Nov. 21, 1951, at Huron and they lived in the Ashton-Mellette area. Clara worked at South Dakota Developmental Center-Redfield for 10 years. They then moved to a farm near Scatterwood, where they farmed side by side for many years. John died in 1981 and Clara continued to live on the farm for five years before moving to Redfield to make her home. She was known for her love of flowers and was the proud recipient of the Beautiful Yard Award. She fed the birds and loved to watch them in her flower garden. She was also known for her sense of humor and quick wit. Her handiwork has been enjoyed by many and treasured. She loved it when one of her great-grandchildren would give her a kiss and say "I love you, Grandma Bebo." She loved to visit with others and was always concerned about their wellbeing. Her loss of hearing put a damper on her neighborly visits. Survivors include her stepchildren: Richard (Darla) Bebo, Grants Pass, Oregon, Ronald (Faye) Bebo, Custer, Gary (Shirley) Bebo, Cresbard and Mrs. Manard (Joyce) Fortin, Bowdle; and nine grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: John, one brother, two sisters, one stepson: Robert, and one grandson: Robert. She was followed in death by her loving companion of the last seven years: her poodle "Crystal." Redfield Press
