HOUSTON - Lorraine Elizabeth Vacek, 74, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born February 20, 1929, in Galveston to Charles and Clara Scott. She was preceded in death by her husband, County Commissioner, Jimmie Vacek; her parents; and sister, Evelyn Gately. Mrs. Vacek was a legal assistant for the law firm of Markwell, Stubbs & Decker of Galveston for many years. Survivors include two sisters, Agnes Rogers of Galveston and Ann Marie Jalufka and husband Donald of Centerville, Texas; and brother in law Jack Gately. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Diane Pringle, Arthur and Delia Mae Rogers, Cathy, Theresa and John Gately, Don Jalufka, Jr., Donna Jalufka-Koeberl and husband Christian, Michael Jalufka and wife Pat, and Sandra Jalufka. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Dickinson, Texas with Father Gregory Post officiating. Interment will follow at Mr. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson. A visitation will be on Thursday, June 19, 2003, from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson.
