Bio
Son of William Pannell b 1838 in Cambell County, Georgia and Sarah Ann Shaxdidix born in Coweta County, Georgia. Shortly after William born the family moved to Talledega, Alabama in 1839 from Campbell County, Georgia which was founded in 1828 and in 1931 was ceded to Fulton County, Georgia. Elias Pannell, a brother of William, married Susan Shellnut in Jan 1854. In Sept 1854 Elias was murdered by Frances J Smith and Charles Haynes in Campbell County, Georgia over Elias's wife Susan. Shortly after that William moved to Clay County, Alabama and married Sarah Ann Shaddix b in 1838 in Coweta County, Georgia. William was killed in the Civil was at Chattanooga, TN. in Nov 1863. Elias Washington Pannell was named after William's brother Elias that had been murdered. The parents of William and grandparents of Elias Washington Pannell are Israel Y. Pannell and Allied Kidd both born in SC they both moved to Old Campbell County, Georgia.
