Bio

Services for Thurman Solsbery, 84, of Abilene will be at 11 a.m. Monday in White Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with David Hutton of Tahoka officiating. Burial will be in Tahoka Cemetery under direction of White Funeral Home. Solsbery died Friday, May 1, 1998, in Coronado Nursing Center in Abilene. He was born Aug. 27, 1913, in Richland Springs. He attended school in Walden, Ark. He moved to Lynn County from Arkansas. He married Ethel Murrah on Oct. 13, 1934, in Tahoka. They moved to Terry County in 1934, and they moved to Lubbock in 1986. His wife died in 1987. He moved to Abilene from Lubbock in 1990. He married Margaret Bailey in 1990, in Abilene. He was an adult leader in 4-H. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a farmer. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jeanie Ruth Kuenstler of Del Rio and Lila Kingery of Lubbock; three sisters, Kelsie Heaslet of Paradise, Calif., Norma Reed of Turlock, Calif., and Norine Solsbery of Lawrence, Kan.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
