Bio
Helen (Machacek) Tomek' s life of 100 years came to a close on Sunday, March 29, 2015 in Lincoln. Helen was born in Weston, NE on April 14, 1914 to Frances and Frank Machacek. Following her graduation from Weston High School, Helen earned her 2 year teaching degree from the College of Saint Mary, Omaha, NE and taught in Saunders County until her marriage to Louis Tomek in 1935. Preceding Helen in death include her parents, husband and sister Marcie Hakel. Survivors include her children Marilyn (Earl) Lindquist, William (Margaret) Tomek, Thomas (Barbara) Tomek and Jane (John) Farrell. Grandchildren: Robert Tomek, Kristi Puls, Sarah Tomek, Brian and Kiley Farrell, 6 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Helen focused on her faith, family, friends and assisting others which was evident in her commitment to volunteering at church, school and within the community. A CELEBRATION of Helen's life will include a VISITATION Tuesday 9-9pm, ROSARY Tuesday 7pm at funeral home and a MASS of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 10am, Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1940 S. 77th St, Lincoln, NE with a burial at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Memorials in Helen's memory are to Saint Joseph Catholic Church and School or donor's wishes. Monsignor Liam Barr officiating.
