Bio
Lydia Theresa Hurta passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2006. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Norm Steinke of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Entombment will follow at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 29, at the funeral home. Lydia was born in Sandoval, Williamson County, Texas, to the late Edward and Lena (Nickel) Kerlin. She grew up in a rural family of 12 children, picking cotton and helping with housework and laundry for the 10 men in the family. On Feb. 20, 1936, she married Rhode Frank Hurta in Taylor, Texas. Lydia worked for many years as a cafeteria manager in the Waco ISD. Lydia was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Gladys; husband on Feb. 16, 1996; sisters, Martha Rodenbeck, Dora Wolbrueck-Smith; brothers, Emil, Leonard, Arthur, Alvin, Eddie, Gilbert, and Walter. She is survived by son, Glenn Roy Hurta and his wife, Janet, of Waco; brothers, Otis Kerlin and his wife, Margaret, of Granger, Texas, Martin Kerlin and wife, Albina, of Taylor, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
