Bio

Lona Starnes age 80 of Winchester, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2013 at Southern Tennessee Medical Center. On September 7, 1932 in Franklin County the late Alin and Yonia Branch Duke welcomed to the world their daughters Lona. She was a 1950 class graduate of Franklin County High School. She worked at the Winchester Hat factory for several years. In her later years she cared for the elderly. Ms. Starnes was a member of the Decherd First Baptist Church until her health began to fail. In her spare time you could stop by her home and find her talking on the phone to family and friends. She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ms. Starnes is preceded in death by her parents, Alin and Yonia Branch Duke; son, Dewayne Brown and sister, Tula Parks. Spouses listed are from the Tennessee Marriage records. She was married to Charles Wilburn Moorehead on two occassions, 1954 and 1962 and General Freeman Davis in 1964.
