Andrew J. Schultz, Jr. 83, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Mosaic Life Care. Andrew was born on August 25, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Lucille (Krenk) and Andrew J. Schultz, Sr. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1949. He attended St. Joseph Junior College and graduated from Missouri Western University in 1976. Andrew proudly served the United States in the Marines during Korea and Vietnam. He served the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from March 1949-1950, the U.S. Marine Corps from July 1950-1956, U.S. Air Force from November 1956- November 1972. He received the following honors: Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and USMC Great Conduct. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant E-7. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus #571 and Compass 579, Member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #359. He was a Life Member & Charter Member of VFW Post 6760, Life Member & Former Commander of Marine Corps League Post 180. Andrew was a Life Member of the Air Force Sergeant’s Association, Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), Member and Former Grand Chief de Gare Forty & Eight Voiture 130, He was the first Equipment Manager at Missouri Western State University, first Data Processing Manager for the city of St. Joseph, and worked at the U.S. Postal Service. He married Jacqueline M. Bennett on May 10, 1952 in San Diego, California. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2003. He was also preceded by his parents. He is survived by his children Deborah Anne Weissbeck and husband Richard, Topeka, Kansas, Andrew J. Schultz, III, Houston, Texas and Lynda Marie Landram and husband Charles, Savannah, Missouri; sister, Rosemary Hughes and husband, Edward, St. Petersburg, Florida; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Friday Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary 6pm Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
