Bio

Louis James GRACIK 88, of Loveland died July 7, 2005, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins. He was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Brewster, Neb., to Joseph and Victoria (Szydzik) Gracik. He attended schools in Ogallala, Neb. He married Ruth Shanesy on June 17, 1948, in Troy, Ohio. He was a resident of Pickstown, S.D., for 11 years, and before that he lived in Sidney, Neb. He had been a resident of Loveland since 1976. Mr. Gracik served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Helena, and retired from the Corps of Engineers in 1976. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3755 of Ogallala, NARFE and AARP. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Loveland, and son [name omitted]. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Joe and Harry, and a sister, Florence. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Loveland Burial Park. Cremation will be completed.
