Bio
Received his education in the Seward and Butler County School System. Married Mable HILL-BLANCHARD June 15, 1948. They moved to Grand Island in 1959. He later married Ann JINDRA April 29, 1960, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They made their home in Grand Island. Over the years he was employed by Diers Motor Co. and then Orville Voorhees Garage. In 1970 he bought the garage and it became Alps Tune Up and Repair. He owned and operated the business until 1987 when he retired due to illness. Member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Eagles and Saddle Club. Survived by wife, Ann; eight sons, Gene of Detroit, Mich., Chuck of St. Paul, Robert of Virginia Beach, Va., Tom of Rochester, Minn., John, Don and Ronald, all of Grand Island, and Patrick of Omaha; a daughter, Beverly Schmid of Lincoln; one brother, Cyril "Cy" Schmid of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and one sister, Mary Cemper of David City. He was preceded in death b y his parents and one granddaughter, Sarah.
