B.W. Kinsolving II and Flora Love Greer were married on Dec. 12, 1897 in Wise County, TX. The couple had three children: Charles William, Flora B., Wynema, B.W. and Flora made their first home in Denton County, TX. In 1906 the family, after hearing of land available in New Mexico under the Homestead Act, arrived in Elida, New Mexico Territory by wagon. Mr. Kinsolving filed on a quarter section northwest of Elida. The family lived in the wagon while they built a 14 ft. by 20 ft. home. B.W. farmed and raised cattle. The Kinsolvings purchased land 10 miles north of Elida in 1913 where they built a new home. In 1957 B.W. and Flora moved to Portales, NM. B.W. was appointed road commissioner by the governor soon after statehood (1912). The county commissioners in each county were authorized to levy taxes for the building and maintaining of roads. Roads were vital toward development of the state. Later he worked for the State Highway Commission securing the right-of-way through the Hondo Valley from Roswell to Ruidoso.
