Bio

Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent February 1986 Calista Owen, 94, a resident of Heritage Village North, died Thursday. Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. William Doran will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery... Mrs. Owen was born Nov. 27, 1891, at Burwell, the daughter of Thomas C. and Indian (sic) Austin Conner. She grew up and received her education in the Burwell area. On Dec. 6, 1916, she married Lester Owen at Burwell. They lived in the Burwell area and later moved to Grand Island. Mr. Owen died in 1961. She was a member of the Grand Generation Center, a charter member of the Harmony Extension Club, and was a Gold Star mother in the American Legion. Survivors include a so, Cecil of Grand Island; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (LuEmma) Fuller of Grand Island and Mrs. Dick (Vera) Howe of Renville, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, four sisters and two brothers.
