Herald Coaster, February 27, 2003: Funeral services for Valentine Sbrusch, 81, of Fairchilds, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. Father James Ramsey will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Valentine was born on Feb. 22, 1922 in Schulenburg to Joe and Mary Kubecka Sbrusch. He passed away on Feb. 26, 2003 in Richmond. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home. Valentine retired after 32 years from WKM. He served in the 84th Infantry Division during World War II, was a member of the Needville American Legion Post 350, and a lifetime member of the Fort Bend County Fair Association. He enjoyed fishing and dancing to Czech music. Valentine is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Gassmann Sbrusch (1971); parents, Joe and Mary Sbrusch; brothers, Alfonse and Eddie Sbrusch; and sisters, Angelina Novak and Albina Vaculik. He is survived by daughter, Veronica Domel and husband, Thomas, of Fairchilds; son, Tim Sbrusch and wife, Denise, of Fairchilds; grandchildren, Bradley Domel and wife, Jennifer, of San Antonio, Tara Domel of Houston, and Wyatt and Brett Sbrusch of Fairchilds; great-grandchild, Lauren Domel of San Antonio; and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Bradley Domel, Wyatt Sbrusch, Brett Sbrusch, Dennis "Butch" Sbrusch, Roland Gassmann, and Randy Hrnicko. Honorary pallbearers are Melvin Wallace and Wesley Oberhoff. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Valentine Sbrusch to the St. Michael's Building Fund, 9202 Main, Needville, TX 77461 or the American Cancer Society, P.O.
