Funeral services for Doris Ellen Stuessel will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 600 Fourth St., Sealy, Texas 77474, with Rev. Eric Pitre celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment will take place in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Sealy. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 pm with rosary/wake at 7:00 PM from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Doris Ellen Stuessel of Sealy, Texas died February 28, 2015 in Sealy, Texas. Doris was born October 15, 1937 in Sealy, Texas to John and Frances (Hamala) Hauerland. She was baptized at Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy, Texas and was confirmed at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek. She attended and graduated from Sealy High School in 1955. Doris married Kenneth Stuessel on April 4, 1959 at Immaculate Conception Church in Sealy, Texas. Doris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University in 1974. She was employed by Citizen State Bank in Sealy for 33 years. Doris is survived by her husband, Kenneth of Sealy; son, Eric Stuessel and wife, Karen, of Sealy; daughter, Jennifer Caskey and husband, Johnny, of Katy; daughter, Jenine Stuessel of Katy; grandson, Kyle Parrish and wife, Amanda, of Sealy; grandson, Kevin Parrish and wife, Cherie, of Dallas; granddaughters, Jessica and Jenna Caskey of Katy; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Ruth, and Margaret Parrish of Sealy; sister, Bernice Vavrecka of Sealy; brother, Johnnie Hauerland and wife, Sharon, of Meridian, Texas; sisters-in-law, Billye Jean Hauerland of Burton, Texas and Geraldine Stuessel of Sealy; and numerous other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ben Hauerland. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a great cook who loved trying out new recipes and sharing them with her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her yard with her plants and feeding her guineas and miniature goats. She played bingo twice a week with her sister and friends and loved playing slot machines at casinos in Las Vegas and Louisiana. She liked to support local events by bidding in the silent auctions and she never left empty handed. Doris and Ken listened to polka music regularly from her large collection of polka CDs and were great dancers. Most importantly, Doris loved life and loved her family. She was kind and generous to everyone she knew. Her feisty spirit and compassionate heart will be missed and always remembered.
