Bio

Walter Neal Shaw, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away, Saturday, February 28, 2015, at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. He was 92. Walter was born February 14, 1923, in Ennis, Texas, to William Thomas and Lena Lee Prestidge Shaw. On May 7, 1952, he was married to Ruby Tucker in Miller County, Arkansas. He attended Texas A&M University and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served as a Military Policeman. After his military service, he was asked to be an Honor Guard at the White House. Walter was retired a Foreman from Shell Oil Company after 39 years of service, was the Owner and Operator of Deer Park Fence Company in Deer Park, Texas, was an Umpire with the Texas Baseball Umpire Association in Houston, Texas, and was the Owner of Shaw Farms in De Kalb, Texas. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Simms, Texas, where he was a member of the Brotherhood. Walter and Ruby, and L.D. and Doris Coleman planned monthly outings for the Golden Oldies. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters and 6 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Tucker Shaw of De Kalb, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Melissa Shaw of La Grange, Texas; a sister, Annie Mae Lancaster of Pasadena, Texas; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Casey and Emily Shaw of La Grange, Texas, Lance Shaw of La Grange, Texas, Cheyenne and Christy Chapman of League City, Texas, Jeralisa Grider of Humble, Texas and Laurie and John DiPalma of Arlington, Texas; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Siloam Baptist Church in Simms, Texas with Rev. John Watts and Rev. Tim Neely officiating. Interment will follow at Wards Creek Cemetery, De Kalb, Texas.
