Bio

Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent March 1979 Mrs. Irene Krohn, 64, of Rt. 3 died early Thursday at a local care home. She had been ill for several years. Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church with a family prayer service at 9:45. The Rev. Larry Casper will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Messiah Lutheran Church. Mrs. Krohn was born June 3, 1914, in Grand Island, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest O. Reher. She completed her education in Grand Island and lived at home until her marriage. On Aug. 22, 1933, she married Meinhard "Mike" Krohn in Grand Island. They farmed near Grand Island. Mr. Krohn died Aug. 18, 1972. Mrs. Krohn was a member of the congregation at Messiah Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school and was an honorary member of the Messiah Lutheran Church circle. She also was a member of the Lakeview extension club. Survivors include a son, Robert of Grand Island; a daughter, Mrs. Anita J. Ryan of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Leschinsky of St. Libory and Mrs. Rose Bosselman of Scottsdale, Ariz., and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Elmer.
