COTTAGE GROVE - The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove for Harold Twombley of Cottage Grove, who died May 15 of esophageal cancer at age 80. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Dry Valley, Neb., to Harv and Dora Jorn Twombley. He married Mona Lancaster on April 27, 2002, in Lake Tahoe, Calif. He had worked as a rail car loader for sawmills, including Weyerhaeuser. Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Frances Pilley of Drain and Delores Amarant of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; a brother, Donald of Eugene; a stepson, Stanley Lancaster of Cottage Grove; two stepdaughters, Connie Harvey of Redding, Calif., and Jeanetta Thomas of Fallon, Nev.; seven step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in the Drain City Cemetery. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association. Register Guard May 17 2006
