In about 1798, George arrived in America from Ireland. He lived in Anson County, NC and married Elizabeth Yarbrough. George with bride Elizabeth and her mother and father, Elizabeth and Joseph Yarbrough, travelled to live in Laurens County, GA. . In 1801, George's son Joseph is born in Laurens County. In 1806, George's daughter Millie is born. By 1807, George and his father-in-law are named as charter members of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Dublin, GA.
