Herald Coaster, February 10, 1997: Funeral services for Dorothy J. Janda, 69, of New Braunfels, formerly of Lake Jackson, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father Wencil Pavlovsky will officiate the services. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. (FM-2218 and Hwy. 59) in Rosenberg. Deacon Don Ries will conduct a rosary service on Monday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. She was born on May 27, 1927 in Weimar to August Muzny and Alouisa Sykora Muzny. She passed away on Feb. 7, 1997 in San Antonio. She worked in Houston in her early adult years for Cravens-Dargan Insurance Company. She then became the wife of Jerome T. Janda, mother to Rosemary and Philip, and a homemaker in Lake Jackson. After her husband retired, Dorothy and Jerome moved to the New Braunfels area. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels and a former member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Canyon Lake, St. Michael's Catholic Church in Lake Jackson, and Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. She was also a member of KJZT (Rosenberg), Altar Society (Lake Jackson), and Helping Hands (Canyon Lake). She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Alouisa Muzny; a sister, Martha Miksch; and brothers, Anton and Robert Muzny. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jerome T. Janda of New Braunfels; a daughter, Rosemary Pavlovsky and her husband, Herbert Sr., of New Columbia; a son, Philip Janda and his wife, Joyce, of Brazoria; sisters, Rosie Mensik of Houston, Pat Evans of Houston, and Mary Anders of New Braunfels; brothers, George Muzny of San Antonio and Jim Muzny of Tacoma, Washington; grandchildren, Herbert Pavlovsky Jr. of West Columbia, Jared Pavlovsky of West Columbia, Natalie Pavlovsky of West Columbia, and Katie Janda of Brazoria. Pallbearers are Preston Bates, Rod Bates, Rick Evans, Darrell Lux, Alan Muzny, and Robert Muzny Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Pavlovsy and Chris Anders. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of Texas, Houston, and Southwest Region, P.O. Box 27396, Houston, TX 77227-7396. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, 281-341-8800.
