Bio

He was interred at the first city cemetery which is now Rogan Field and his body never exhumed. According to a family member a stone marker was made for him here next to his wife, but it is no longer here. The stone now found for his wife, Sarah, is a newer stone. The original stone was much larger. He was born in TN, Sarah in VA. They married and lived in AR for awhile before coming to TX in the 1840's. He came to San Saba county in the mid 1850's and built the Burden Hotel in San Saba in 1857. It was the first stone building in town The hotel was on the north east corner across from the courthouse.
