Bio
Wilbert Dale Boyd of Crosby, Texas went to be with his Lord on November 22, 2010 at age 86. He was born at home in Milam County, Texas on June 19, 1924, to parents Johah and Freda Pauline Boyd. After graduating from high school at 17, he worked for the Houston Shipbuilding Corporation for a year and at 18 was drafted into the Army and proudly served our country during World War II. He was assigned to the 17th Field Artillery Observation Battalion, and was sent overseas to participate in battles in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He earned the American Theater Campaign medal, the EAME Campaign medal with 5 bronze stars, the good conduct medal, and the World War II victory medal. After returning home in late 1945, he married his sweetheart, Margaret Louise Eccleston in April 1946, settled in Pasadena and began their 63 years together. He was employed by Champion Paper and retired after 35 years service. Wilbert is preceded in death by his wife Margaret. Wilbert is survived by his two children Margaret Austin and her husband Jim of Spring, TX, and Robert Boyd and his wife Debbie of Crosby, TX. He is also survived by a sister, Faye Florrow and Husband Oliver of Pasadena, TX; brother, David Boyd of Austin, TX; sister June Baumgarter of San Angelo, TX. He has 6 grandchildren; Allen Jackson and wife Hadlee of Granbury, TX, Christi Pelkey and husband Troy of Humble, TX, Jason Boyd and his wife Tara of Crosby, TX, Kathy Fojt and husband Jason of Magnolia, TX, Jonathan Boyd, M.D. of Crosby, TX, and Donna McCullough and husband Marty of Soda Springs, Idaho. His great grandchildren include; Garrett Jackson, Michelle and Meagan Dempsey, Maxwell Witting, Nicholas and Zachary Pelkey, Abigail, Benjamin, Ava and Kailey Boyd, Nathaniel and Kaylyn Fojt, Kristine Gibson and Don Michael, Kaylee, Genny Joe, and Kathryn McCullough, and numerous nieces and nephews.
