Raymond George Vlk, age 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 8, 2015. He was born in Ennis, TX on January 27, 1929 to Joe and Anna Vlk. After graduating from University of Houston, Ray entered the U.S. Air Force and was based at Lakland AFB in San Antonio, TX where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant. He went on to pursue a career in insurance. During that time, he devoted his passions towards his family and the Knights of Columbus, Council #799. Ray was able to extend himself even further by devoting time and effort to the City of Dallas, FTLOTL, and was recognized as the "Volunteer of the Year" by the YMCA. He also received a lifetime award from the Knights of Columbus for his exemplary service. He is survived by his 4 children, Michael, Kathryn, Patrick, Christina and their spouses; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m with a Rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Vollmer-Konig as the celebrant. Pallbearers wil be Chuck Philipp, Kelly Giddens, Milton Slovak, John Trojacek, Joe Hogan, and Paul palamo serving as Active while Ed Carpenter, Bill DeMoss, and Ed Hubbuck will be serving as Honorary. There will be a reception immediately following the services at the Knights of Columbus Hall #799. Burial will take place on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, TX in Lane A.
