Bio
Gerald Norman Gerling, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015. Gerald was born May 31, 1940, in Long Prairie, Minn., to Russell and Ruth Gerling. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 23 years. During his tenure, he and his wife, Ruby, were stationed in England and traveled extensively throughout Europe. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Gerald had the opportunity to join the agribusiness insurance field until his retirement in San Antonio. Gerald enjoyed fishing, bowling and softball, but had a special passion for golf. He also loved his pets and fed every stray he saw. His wife, children and grandchildren were always the constant joy in his life. He will forever be loved and dearly missed. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: Wife of 52 years, Ruby J. Gerling; daughters, Johna Nunn and husband, David, Christine Cottrell and husband, John; son, Adam Gerling and wife, Sierra; grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Emily, Rachel, Jackson and Oliver; brothers, Mike Gerling and wife, Sharon, Bud Gerling and wife, Cheryl; and sisters, Shirlene Chisholm and husband, Les, and Sheri Fox.
