Bio

Devonne Dillard, age 81, joined many family and loved ones in Heaven on February 2, 2015. She was born on November 2, 1933, to Murphy and Sally Carpenter, in Roaring Springs, TX, where she lived her whole life. She was 1 of 9 siblings. Devonne married Bennie Dee Dillard on November 23, 1951 and they were married for 63 years. She loved her two children, Dana Dillard Graham and husband Ross; and the late Bennie “Don” Dillard. She adored and was dearly loved by her grandchildren Jerod Rieger, wife Hilda Rieger and Joel Rieger, wife Meranda Rieger and her great-grandchildren Jaden Rieger, James Rieger, and Elena Rieger. Devonne was a teacher’s aid at Motley County ISD for many years. She was also a very talented seamstress displaying her talents at her store, Petticoat Junction, located in downtown Roaring Springs. The Lord also gave Devonne the wonderful gift of playing the piano. After only one lesson she was able to create beautiful melodies, with every stroke of a key she still gave all the glory straight back to her Savior at the Full Gospel Church in Roaring Springs, TX. In Lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in honor of Devonne be made to Assemblies of God Youth Camp P.O. Box 41 Roaring Springs, TX 79256. Church Services for Devonne Dillard, 81, or Roaring Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday February 4, 2015 at Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church with Raymond Mizelle officiating. Interment will follow at Roaring Springs Cemetery under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home of Matador.
