Frantisek Sugarek B.Jan 28 1831 D.June 3, 1863 Born in Hajov, Austria. Parents: Mathius & Veronika Smolik Schugarek. Frantisek, wife Barbora & Frantisek's two children boarded a train at Bohumin, traveled across Prussia & Hanover to Bremen where they sailed down the Weser River to Bremerhaven, boarded the "Anna Elise" and sailed to Galveston TX; took a steamboat up Buffalo Bayou, then took an ox drawn wagon to Cat Spring, then to the Bluff (now Hostyn). In Sept 1859 they moved to Content, TX. Frantisek died on his own property in Content, from a gunshot wound inflected by Theodeos Hunter on June 3, 1863. Frantisek was survived by his two children by previous marriage, Maryjanna & Karel Simon (Charles), and his child with Barbara, Veronica (Verna). He was preceded in death by their daughter Amalia.∼Frank Sugarek born in Hajov,Novy Jicin,Czech Frank Sugarek married Barbara Simicek in about 1858. His first wife was named Magdalia and she was the mother to his first two children. She died when the daughter was 7 years old and son Charles was 2 years old. They were living in a small town named Male Kunice, in Moravia, in the Czecho-Slovakia Republic. He remarried and in the spring of 1856, they left for America to settle at Bluff, near La Grange in a Bohemian settled area. This information comes from a 1939 book, "A History of Bee County..." by Mrs. I. C. Madray. In the section on Charles Sugarek, Sr., it says he was 12 years old, when his father was killed in the Civil War.
