Bio

Born on 26 April 1887, in Blanconia (Dark Corner), Texas. Her father, Henderson May Williams, was 36 and her mother, Melissa Annie Barber, was 25. Became proficient with a rifle at a young age and could drop a coyote at a distance of 200 feet. Married James Marion Hatch on 25 February 1905, in Bee County, Texas. Was a Homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church. Helped raise her nephew Jesse Lee Brundrett (born in 1917), whose parents Annie Mae Williams and John Robert Brundrett died at the end of the outbreak of the 1919 Flu Epidemic. Also helped raise the daughter of her husband's first wife, Eunice Lindley, after Eunice was murdered on 21 April 1902 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Marie Myrtle Eunice Hatch was that child and was born on 17 August 1901. The couple had three children of their own during the marriage, James Byron (born in 1922), John Kenneth (born in 1923) and Anna Francis Hatch. Her firstborn, James Byron, was a member of the United States Armed forces and was killed on 15 September 1944 during a Naval training mission in Duval County, Florida, during WWII. Widowed on 12 August 1955, she lived alone at the old Hatch homestead on Wofford Lane for the following 35 years. She spent quality time with daughter, Anna Francis, and family, at their house in San Antonio, Texas during the cold months of the year. Was proficient in storytelling, entertaining both family and visitors with tales, spending many hours of pleasure on the front porch swing. Received an award from Philip Morris Magazine as a Centenarian and Special Member of the Golden 100 Circle Club. Died on 17 April 1990, in San Antonio, Texas, just nine days short of her 103rd birthday, and is buried in Beeville, Texas in the Glenwood Cemetery (Block 0103, 2nd Edition, Lot #2).
