Joined his Eternal Father on January 14, 2015. Born in 1918 to Anna Hoffman Novotny and Alvin Novotny, Richard grew up in Omaha and Wahoo, NE, graduating Wahoo High School in 1936. Richard enlisted in the Army AirCorps, serving from 1942 to 1946 as an Officer, Bombardier Instructor. In 1943, he married the love of his life, Blanche Mensik of Omaha. Following the war, Richard had a successful career in business with the Chevrolet Division of General Motors Corp. rising to the position of Zone Sales Promotion Manager. He retired in 1977. Richard and Blanche were blessed with 3 daughters, Judy Burke (Mrs. Thomas) of Longwood, FL, Susan Novotny (Mrs. Scott Laidig) of Pensacola, FL and Bozeman, MT, and Carole Steier (Mrs. Dr. Dan) of Omaha and Steamboat Springs, CO. Richard's life was full of adventure and varied passions. He was a longtime pilot, flying privately and for the Civil Air Patrol. With Blanche, he owned and operated Custom Sales, one of Omaha's first estate sale companies. He and Blanche lived for many years in Navarre, FL. A lifelong outdoorsman, fisherman, and hunter, during his final 2 decades he became a renowned wild turkey hunter. Richard will forever be held in the hearts of his 3 daughters; his brother Don Novotny of Oakland, NE; 6 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. His dear wife Blanche predeceased him, and together they now will spend Eternity in Peace with their Lord. A MASS of CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Omaha at 10AM on March 7.
