His parents were L.J. and Lena (Harris) Doty. ∼ Wichita Falls Times , Wichita Falls, Texas, Friday, April 16, 1943, page 1: Injuries suffered in a trailer accident near Dundee Thursday night were fatal to W. L. Doty, rural route 1, Wichita Falls. Doty died in a Wichita Falls hospital Friday morning at 1:45 o'clock from head injuries suffered when the house trailer in which he and his wife were riding was accidentally uncoupled from the car pulling it. The accident occurred about 9:30 0'clock Thursday night a mile east of Dundee. Doty and his wife had left Wichita Falls about 8 o'clock for California. Both were brought by and Owens & Brumley ambulance to Wichita General Hospital for treatment. Mrs. Doty suffered only a forehead laceration and was released. The body was taken by the B. H. Smith Funeral Home at Quanah, where the Dotys formerly resided. They also had resided at Lubbock and Orange, Texas. An uncle, C. C. Cleary, Wichita Falls, route 1, is among survivors.
