William "Bud" Edward Droddy, Jr., William "Bud" Edward Droddy, Jr., 91, of Leesville, Louisiana entered eternal peace on Sunday, January 25th, 2015 in Leesville, Louisiana. Mr. Droddy was born March 9th, 1923 to William Droddy, Sr and Pearlie Franklin Droddy in Leesville, LA. After graduating from Leesville High School in 1941, Mr. Droddy went to work as a general office clerk at what was then the main office at the Mid - City branch of Merchants and Farmers Bank on third street. He was made an officer of the bank in 1943. He served as Vice President, cashier, and trust officer over the years, and was voted to the board of directors in 1954. In 1967 he began working at the main branch of the bank on Fifth Street, where he remained until he retired. Mr. Droddy was a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish. His father was a Vernon Parish teacher, and farmer; and the Droddy-Cain American Legion Post 145 was named for his brother, Herbert, who was killed in France during World War I. In 1958, Mr. Droddy married Janice Prudhomme. They had one son, Paul Joseph Droddy, and one daughter Margaret West and a granddaughter, Paula Annease. Mr. Droddy was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church where he served on the finance committee. Mr. Droddy was very active in the Leesville community throughout his adult life. He helped charter the Vernon Association for Retarded Citizens and was a past president of that organization. He served as a member of the executive board at St. Mary's School for Special Children in Alexandria, LA for six years and was treasurer for the Vernon Council of Disabled Persons. He was also an active member of the Leesville Lions Club, holding several offices, including treasurer and director of the executive board. He served as treasurer for the Leesville Planning Commission for many years. Mr. Droddy was preceded in death by his parents; William Edward Droddy, Sr and Pearlie Franklin Droddy; one son, Paul Joseph Droddy; brothers, Jack E Droddy (Dorothy Hood), Herbert Droddy, and Olan Droddy; sisters, Effie Boyd, and Ethel Brossett. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Janice Prudhomme of Leesville, LA; daughter, Margaret West; granddaughter, Paula Thompson. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28th, 2015 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville, LA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Leesville, LA with Father Anthony Catella officiating. Interment will follow in Leesville Cemetery.
