Funeral services for Viola Meeks Dixon, 97, of Corinth, are set for 1 p.m. Thursday at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with burial in Tippah Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Dixon died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015 at Cornerstone Health and Rehab. Born November 20, 1917, she was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She loved God’s people and had a deep love and respect for God. She was a devoted and loving mother who taught her children the truth of God’s word and was an excellent example of hard work to her family. She served as an excellent caregiver for the aged. Survivors include sons, Rex Dixon of Oakland, Tenn., Conny Dixon and wife Debbie of Clifton, N.J., Harrell Dixon and wife Evelyn of Walnut and Rev. Merl Dixon and wife Jeannie of Corinth; 15 grandchildren, Charlotte Loyed and husband Skip of Covington, Tenn., Sherry Maples of Memphis, Tenn., Mark Wilson and wife Shay of Burns, Tenn., Yancy Wilson of Fairview, Tenn., Carla Yerby and husband Rick of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., John Dixon and wife Vicky of Ripley, Rhonda Umfress and husband Jeff of Ripley, Matt Dixon of Walnut, Renae Chessor and husband Jamie of Charleston, W.V., Chris Dixon and wife Jena of White Hall, Ark., Tim Dixon and wife Janet of Corinth, Nathan Dixon and wife Michelle of Corinth, Brienna Benaquista and husband Gerry of Clifton, N.J. and Ryan Dixon of Clifton, N.J.; 20 great grandchildren, Carla Franks and husband Tony, Robby Loyed and wife Brandi, William Loyed, Sierra Loyed, Michael Tackett and wife Lois, Belinda Tackett, Justin Yerby, Amanda Barber and husband Jason, Tori Chessor, Robyn Dixon, Ben Dixon, Aaron Dixon, Bethany Dixon, Nate Dixon, Morgan Dixon, Sayler Dixon, Brayden Hobbs, Braxton Hobbs, Aubri Benaquista and Briley Benaquista; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a daughter-in- law, Marcell Dixon of Ripley; a brother, M.D. Meeks of Pontotoc; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her sons, Lyle Dixon and Eugene Dixon; a daughter, Donna Bell Wilson; her parents, John Meeks and Julie Bell Swinford Meeks; brothers, Joe Meeks, Jim Meeks, Benny Meeks, Mose Meeks and John Booker Meeks; and sisters, Ethyl Nelson, Julie Bell Wooley, Kate Mae Wilbanks, Alice Meeks and Cordenia Meeks. The Rev. Chris Dixon, the Rev. Tim Dixon and the Rev. Nathan Dixon will officiate. Pallbearers are Matt Dixon, John Dixon, Ben Dixon, Aaron Dixon, Jeff Umfress, Mark Wilson and Yancy Wilson.
