Bio

Everett D. Miller Services for Everett D. Miller, 79, were Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Davenport of First Baptist Church and Travis LaDuke, a retired Baptist Minister officiating. Mr. Miller died after a lengthy illness in Swisher Memorial Hospital Saturday. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Miller was born January 12, 1916 in Randolph, Texas. He married Leota Burrow April 2, 1939. He was a farmer and a Baptist. Mr. Miller was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1946. He was and deacon a [sic] Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. Mr. Miller served as a member of Swisher County Farm Bureau where he also served two terms as president. Mr. Miller moved to the Lubbock area in 1925, afterwards he graduated from Roberton High School in 1933. He attended Draughons Business College in Lubbock for two years. He was a bookkeeper and accountant. Mr. Miller worked for civil service as a cost analyst at Reese Air Force Base prior to coming to Tulia. Mr. Miller moved to Tulia in 1952, where he farmed until retirement. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Brenda Shepherd of Canyon; three sons Garry of Dallas, Glen of Stillwater,, Oklahoma and Ken of Cleveland, Texas; two sisters, Louie Goolsby of Lubbock and Lillie Mae Jones of Victorville, California; one brother, Alvin Miller of Tulia; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Pallbearers were nephews. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Canyon, First Baptist Church of Tulia or your favorite chaarity.
