Bio

John is the only child of Robert McCloy and Mary Nibley. His parents divorced shortly after his birth and both remarried. John has numerous half-siblings especially from his father's remarriage. They lived in Hooper, Utah. John was raised by his mother's parents, James Nibley and Jean Wilson in Wellsville, Utah. His mother went with her new husband to Arizona where she died in 1877. After that John's half-sister, Jane Maughan, came to live with their grandmother also. James (grandpa) had died in 1876. Jane married in 1880. Their grandmother died in 1889. As an adult, John moved to Idaho. After 1889 Jane also moved to Idaho. In 1900 John was at Medicine Lodge working for a sheep outfit. He continued that line of work the rest of his life. It appears that he did not marry. The life of a sheepherder isn't good for a marriage. John was found dead at the sheep camp. It was assumed he died of food poisoning. He was buried next to his sister, Jane.
