Bio

John Francis, a gentleman of faith, passed from this world Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. Celebration of life: 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Legacy Church of Christ, 8801 Mid-Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills. Interment: John's family will honor his wishes to celebrate his years of service in the U.S. Air Force and love of country with a private military burial with full honors in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas preceding the celebration of his life. Johnny Ray "John" Francis was born Sept. 8, 1944, to Charles Ray and Edith Hawk Francis in Dallas. He grew up in Fort Worth and completed his education at the University of Texas at Arlington. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, which he proudly served for 26 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. John's career led him to over 23 years of employment with Motorola Communications. He retired from Motorola in 1994 and joined Linda in building their family travel business. That is when the fun all began! They were blessed to travel the world together and in the process found a group of fellow vagabonds that they love and cherish as their dearest friends. Of all their travels, John's favorite destination was at home surrounded by his beloved family. Survivors: Left to cherish his memory are his best friend and wife of 30 years, Linda; their four children and four children-in-love; seven adored grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
