Bio
David was born January 29, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Edward and MaryAnn (Plotz) Stastny. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1967. Following, he attended Area 10 Community College, where he studied auto body and paint. David was united in marriage Kathleen Kunz on July 18, 1970 in Marion. Dave worked at Bob Zimmerman Ford, Sterners Auto Body in Lisbon, Rapids Chevrolet, at Rockwell Goss for over seventeen years until his retirement. He enjoyed working in the garage, collecting die cast automobiles, gardening, growing cherry tomatoes and sugarsnap peas, camping and boating, watching his son’s Motocross, daughter’s softball games, NASCAR with Dale Jr. as one of his favorite, having season tickets during the Hayden Fry era at Iowa, enjoying his best friend, miniature dachshund Charlie, and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Steve Stastny, and a brother-in-law Purley Bragg.
