The funeral service for Duane F. Pollert, 82, Valley City, North Dakota, formerly of Kathryn, North Dakota will be 10:30 am Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kathyrn. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Cemetery. He died Friday, January, 16, at Mercy Hospital. Duane Frederick Pollert was born July 6, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Philip and Inez (Talbott) Pollert. He grew up and attended school in Douglas, North Dakota until the age of 10, when the family moved to the Litchville, North Dakota area. He graduated from Marion High School, Marion, ND, in 1950. He was united in marriage to Elaine Hardtke on July 27, 1952 in Grand Rapids, North Dakota. Duane served in the US Army during the Korean War from November 4, 1952 to September 15, 1954. After returning home Elaine and Duane made their home north of Litchville where they farmed and later moved to a farm near Fort Ransom, North Dakota. In 1966, the moved to Kathryn, where he worked at Great Plains Supply until working for Kathryn Farmers Mutual Elevator as their bulk fuel driver for 29 years. He retired in 1995. Duane was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He was the mayor of Kathryn for many years and also served on the city council. He has served as a member of the Kathryn school board and was a member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Elaine; four children and their families. Duane is also survived by a brother, Clifford, and a sister, Doris. inforum.com 1/18/2015
