Betty Ward, age 77, of Aurora, died Thursday, April 27, 2006, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 2nd at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: BETTY WARD Betty Lou Ward, the daughter of Lester and Millie (Smith) Miller, was born in Columbus, Nebraska on November 5, 1928 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 27, 2006, at the age of 77. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Columbus High School. On April 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald Ward at Oberlin, Kansas. They moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska where Don ran a service station and several years later they moved to Columbus, NE and then to San Diego, California, where Don was is in the trucking business. They moved back to Aurora in 1992, when they retired. On April 15, 2005, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Betty was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and the Women's Group. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Donald Ward of Aurora; three children, Vickie Benyr of West Yellowstone, WY, Sheryl Cook of Torrance, CA and Gary Ward of Poway, CA; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, John Ward of Roseville, CA and Scott Ward of Gothenburg, NE, a sister-in-law, Ella Schulze of Norton, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
