Merle"Ed"Edward McBride August 10,1928-January 4,2015 Merle Edward “Ed” McBride, 86 of Gering, Nebraska passed January 4, 2015 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held January 9, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery. He was born on August 10, 1928 in Indianola, Nebraska to Glenn and Carrie (Colling) McBride. He received his education in Indianola, NE. Merle was in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Joseph P Kennedy Jr. He was honorably discharge on November 1, 1949.He was united in marriage to Donna Lou Burbach on February 20, 1952 at St. Agnes Catholic Church and made their home in Scottsbluff. Merle"Ed" worked for Swift & CO for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He then worked for Western Nebraska General Hospital and Regional West Medical Center for 22 years, retiring in 2002.He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.Merle was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 53 years Donna Lou McBride, sons Dennis, Terrance (Mac) and William (Bill), daughter-in-law Nancy McBride, great grandson Jeffery Rice, brother Joseph, and sisters Francis, Jean and Pat.
