Frank B. Zett of Austin was born on August 7, 1915, near Circleville, Texas. He passed away Monday, April 24, 2006. Mr. Zett was a decorated World War II Veteran, serving ten years in the United States Army, four of which were with the 1st BN, Battery C, 77th Field Artillery. Some of the most memorable stories he shared with his children and grandchildren included his unit's landing in Casablanca, and the joining with General George Patton to wreak havoc against Germany's Desert Fox. His unit marched across Africa, fighting through Sicily, and heading up the boot of Italy, including the towns of Anzio and Rome. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank J. Zett; mother, Sophia Kahanek Zett; brothers, Zigmund, William, Methodius, George, Victor, and Sylvester Zett; sisters, Liberty Bartosh, Mary Lange, Tracy Kalenda, and Gertrude Zurovetz. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Beard Zett, Austin; sons, Frank David Zett and wife, Linda, of Abilene, Mark K. Zett and wife, Cookie, of Bastrop; daughter, Dellette Z. Lysek and husband, David, of Dripping Springs; sisters, Sylvia Wusterhausen, Victoria Finn, Alice Hajda; grandchildren, John and Christopher Zett, Brian and Lucas Lysek, and Natalie Zett; great-grandchildren Michelle, Joshua, Morgan, August, Reese, Tyler, and Ager; and many nieces and nephews. Rosary and visitation was Wednesday, April 26th, at Weed- Corley-Fish Funeral Home, Austin, Texas. Funeral services were Thursday, April 27th, at St. Mary's Cathedral with Monsignor Matocha officiating. Burial followed at Assumption Cemetery.
